Lora Moseley news paper clipping

This newspaper clipping from The Daily Southerner in February 1984 announces Lora Moseley, a Tarboro High School senior as one of the winners of The Congressional Seminar Essay Contest. The topic of the essay was “What is the Future of Democracy.”

Winners of the contest attend a week long workshop in our nation’s capital where they learn about the federal government, and meet with House and Senate members.

At the time this article was written, The National Society of  The Colonial Dames of America had been sponsoring this program for over 17 years. Over 20,000 young people had benefited from this opportunity to get a closer look into our government.
