The Wake County Committee hosted a Colonial Dames Ball on February 22, 1927 at the city auditorium of Raleigh. Guests attended the ball dressed in traditional colonial attire. The event included dancing and historical scenes representing events such as the baptism of Virginia Dare. Spectators came from all over the state to help the Society raise money for a Virginia Dare baptism portrait. They raised $650 from the event.
